Educational Qualification

Essential Qualifications:
• First Class M.E. / M.Tech / M.Sc in Mechanical Engineering / Production Engineering / Automobile / Material Science / Metallurgy / Physics / Computer Science or equivalent.
• Alternative for B.E. / B.Tech / Integrated Degree: Candidates with B.Tech / B.E. in the relevant discipline are eligible provided they have secured minimum 7.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale AND have either qualified GATE Examination OR possess at least 6 months of relevant professional/research experience.

Desirable: Knowledge of mathematical modeling, software, and simulation tools (FEA/COMSOL/ANSYS/MATLAB). Preference for candidates with publications in SCI / SCIE / SCOPUS-indexed journals.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 32 years as on the date of advertisement (17.09.2026). Age relaxation is admissible as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and female candidates.

Stationed at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT Bhopal), an Institute of National Importance. The JRF works under the Principal Investigator (Dr. Jitendra Adhikari) on an Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) funded Prime Minister Early Career Research Grant (PM-ECRG) project titled 'Smart Metacomposite Design for Dual-Purpose Energy Harvesting and Vibration Control'. The role involves advanced computational mechanics, design of phononic crystals and acoustic/mechanical metamaterials, multiphysics modeling (piezoelectric/electromagnetic coupling), and laboratory prototyping for vibration attenuation and energy harvesting. Work environment is research-intensive and intellectually stimulating, offering access to high-performance computing clusters and advanced experimental testing rigs. Standard lab hours (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM) apply, with flexible schedules during experimental testing phases.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial appointment is for one year, extendable on an annual basis upon satisfactory research performance up to the project completion (total duration 36 months). Co-terminus with the project. Candidates may also be encouraged/eligible to register for the Ph.D. program at MANIT Bhopal as per institute norms. Location is fixed at MANIT Bhopal campus.

Upon successful completion of two years as JRF and subject to satisfactory research review and publication output, fellows under national funding agency norms may be upgraded to Senior Research Fellow (SRF) with enhanced emoluments (as per ANRF/DST rules). The position also provides high-value research credentials, high-impact journal publications, and recommendation for post-doctoral or faculty positions across NITs, IITs, and CSIR laboratories.
