The position is purely honorary. Selected PLVs receive a daily honorarium per day of assigned duty/camp as fixed by NALSA and the Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA).

The work of PLV does not carry any regular salary, remuneration, or wages. PLVs receive a daily honorarium per day of active service / clinic duty / Lok Adalat sitting as fixed by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Assam State Legal Services Authority (ASLSA) from time to time (typically ₹500/- to ₹800/- per duty day).
