Counselors appointed to Family Court, Prayagraj work under the guidance of the Principal Judge, Additional Principal Judges, and legal counsels. Their core responsibility is conducting mandatory pre-litigation and pendente-lite conciliation and reconciliation proceedings under Section 9 of the Family Courts Act, 1984. Duties include holding confidential sessions with disputing spouses, identifying root causes of marital discord, preparing objective counseling assessment reports for the presiding judge, and facilitating amicable settlement agreements or mutual consent terms without acrimony.

The engagement is purely contractual for an initial tenure of three (3) years. The term may be reconsidered/extended for another three (3) years based on performance appraisal and recommendation by the High Court of Judicature at Allahabad.
