Work Culture & Environment

Office/fieldwork balance, duties, organizational environment.

Legislature Reporters in A.P. Legislature Services serve as official verbatim stenographic reporters in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council situated at the State Legislature Secretariat in Amaravati / Velagapudi. Daily and sessional responsibilities encompass verbatim recording of real-time floor debates, ministerial statements, question hour deliberations, legislative committee hearings, and governor's addresses in either English or Telugu. During legislative sessions, reporters rotate on tight floor shifts (often 5 to 10 minutes intervals per reporter) to record proceedings accurately using high-speed shorthand (150 WPM English or 80 WPM Telugu) and immediately transcribe the verbatim official record within strict daily printing deadlines. Outside assembly sittings, duties focus on committee report drafting, proofreading legislative gazette proceedings, and archival transcription.

Posting & Transfer Policy

Initial posting criteria, zone preferences, transfer liability.

The posts are permanent Gazetted/Group-B positions in the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Secretariat Service. Postings are located at the Andhra Pradesh Legislature Secretariat in Amaravati (Velagapudi), Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh. Career & Promotion Ladder

Promotion timeline, seniority ladder, pay grade scaling.

The cadre offers a structured hierarchy within the Legislature Secretariat: Reporter (Pay Scale Rs. 57,100 - 1,47,760) -> Senior Reporter / Chief Reporter -> Assistant Secretary (Reporting / Legislature) -> Deputy Secretary -> Joint Secretary -> Special Secretary / Secretary to State Legislature.
