Educational Qualification

Research Associate - I (RA-I) (01 Post): PhD in Science / Engineering, OR M.E. / M.Tech in Chemical Engineering / Chemical Technology / Material Science & Engineering with minimum 3 years of research experience and at least one SCI journal publication.
Desirable: (a) Prior research experience in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization; (b) At least 3 SCI publications with first authorship.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Upper age limit is 40 years as on the date of interview (01/10/2026). Relaxable up to 5 years for SC, ST, Physically Handicapped, and Female candidates, and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates.

CSIR-CGCRI (Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute), established in 1950 in Jadavpur, Kolkata, is one of the premier constituent national laboratories under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR). The Materials Science and Technology Division (MSTD) is equipped with state-of-the-art materials synthesis, characterization (XRD, FESEM, HRTEM, BET surface analysis, FTIR), and advanced reactor engineering facilities. As a Research Associate - I under the DBT-funded GAP-3104 project, the appointee works closely with Principal Investigators on cutting-edge clean energy technologies, focusing on microalgae cultivation in membrane photobioreactors and synthesized functional biochar for carbon dioxide capture and biofuel synthesis. The laboratory work environment is rigorous and research-intensive, adhering to standard central government research timings (9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Friday).
